ABF’s Digital Learning Program, which has gained national coverage (see video below), is not just a one-time initiative. It’s an ongoing program that will continue to ensure that every hospital treating children has the equipment and devices needed to operate a successful remote learning program. This commitment to continuity reassures us that seriously ill children will always have access to quality education, regardless of being hospitalized or during at-home recovery. In addition to carrying out our mission, our Foundation takes GREAT PRIDE in creating “WONDERFUL DISTRACTIONS” for the families we serve throughout the year. When these families take part in our WONDERFUL DISTRACTIONS they are laughing, smiling, and creating everlasting memories. And for the moment they are not thinking about their child’s battle. These WONDERFUL DISTRACTIONS are meant to provide brief shelter from the families life storm. Allowing them to know they are not alone in their fight. To date our Foundation has served over 10,000 people. The following ABF programs are Wonderful Distractions made available in 2022 for the families we serve

ABF Digital Learning Program

The DLP was developed to help address Chronic Absenteeism for hospitalized children who attend schools throughout the United States. Our Foundation believes that in order to effectively address this problem, seriously ill children should have the means to continue to receive a QUALITY EDUCATION remotely while hospitalized and/or during at-home recovery. We will provide 154 children’s hospitals with Captain Poodaman Computer Charging Carts stocked with Chromebooks or laptops and personal computers to seriously ill children in need being treated at these hospitals to enable them to continue to receive a QUALITY EDUCATION remotely. Pooday

National Ahmad Butler Day aka Pooday is our annual Holiday. A day to come together to celebrate, honor, and encourage Superhero Kids that are battling cancer and other life threatening diseases. Some of the children we serve may not have a chance to celebrate milestones such as graduation, prom, wedding, etc. Pooday is meant to be their “BIG DAY”. Pooday is a free invitation only event where Superhero Kids are celebrated with a presentation of medals of bravery. Draped with Superhero capes by their loving parents, play fun games for prizes to amusement parks, museums, aquariums, family entertainment centers, restaurants and more. Superhero Overnight Bag Program

ABF’s Superhero Overnight Bag Program is meant to bring joy to the Superhero Kids we serve in a not so joyous situation, an emergency overnight hospital stay. Our Foundation donates fully loaded duffle bags with everything a Superhero Kid needs for a hospital stay, plus their favorite snacks, and toys to help boost their spirits. This program includes a gift bag for the often forgotten live in Super Siblings too. The purpose of the program is to provide a bag parents can just grab and go in the event of an emergency hospital trip, in addition to cheering up the Superhero Kids we serve.(testimonials and photo gallery)

Wonderful World of Sports Program

Our Foundation has partnered with various local professional sports teams to provide complimentary tickets to the families we serve through their ticket donation program. This ongoing program enables Superhero Kids and their immediate families to attend professional sports matches and games they otherwise would not be able to attend. This “WONDERFUL DISTRACTION” sometimes includes a once in a lifetime team mascot meet and greet, and in some cases meeting the players themselves. The Wonderful World Of Sports Program is made possible because of the willingness of professional sports to give back to the community that supports them. So far Philadelphia Phillies, Flyers, Union, and Eagles have donated thousands of tickets enabling ABF to create WONDERFUL DISTRACTS for these families from their daily storm.(testimonials and photo gallery)

ABF’s Emergency Preparedness Program

ABF’s Emergency Preparedness Program – provided much needed groceries and toiletries during the COVID19 pandemic, to over 400 families we serve. In addition we stocked the patient pantries of local hospitals such as, Ronald McDonald House and St Christopher’s Hospital for Children.(testimonials and photo gallery)

Captain Poodaman Care Packages

Captain Poodaman Care Packages filled with The Adventures of Captain Poodaman coloring book, crayons, superhero capes and masks, snacks, toys, and a Chick Fil-A gift card. The care packages bring joy and cheer to hospitalized Children in a not so cheerful situation. Captain Poodaman Care Packages are delivered or shipped to children’s hospitals in the USA or to the homes of the Superhero Kids during their battle.(testimonials and photo gallery)

ABF’s Coats for Kids Program

Provided over 1000 coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and pajamas to Children coping with cancer and other life threatening Childhood diseases, in addition to providing the same to their sometimes overlooked Super Siblings.

Love Of Learning Program

The Love of Learning Program is a component of ABF’s Digital Learning Program. Through our partnership with Electronic Access Foundation ABF can provide refurbished devices to allow seriously ill children who are in need to continue to receive a quality education during at home recovery.(learn more here)
